To make sure we don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity to benefit from Melanie's considerable talent, we would be grateful if you could please register your interest in this special six-week course with the Art Group organizer as soon as possible, and preferably by 31st July at the latest. We will head off from the Opéra Bastille at 10h30, and start walking along the Arsenal Basin, then over the Viaduc des Arts and on through the Marché d’Aligre.  We will continue through the Promenade Plantée, passing the unusual statues of the commissariat de police, before arriving at The Godfather restaurant – the venue for our final lunch stop, a welcome option for those who wish to stay a bit longer.

To reserve a place for lunch, please contact Sylvie whose details can be found in your latest Monthly Newsletter. Otherwise, there is no need to reserve for the walk - members should just turn up on time at the designated meeting place.

    Contemporary Watercolour Art Class

A six-week watercolour painting course for beginners and experienced alike

Local artist, Melanie Christensen, has offered to host a short, six-week course in Contemporary Watercolour for the BCWA.

These will be supportive, explorative, fun classes, where you have the space to work with like-minded people on your own painting. The six classes are suitable for beginners, or for those with some painting experience, though not necessarily with watercolour.

During the course, Melanie will demonstrate basic techniques and processes for
beginners, and encourage all to achieve their own unique expression. For those with some experience already, her aim is to demonstrate new possibilities you might inject into your current practice.

Members who enjoy the six-week course will be most welcome to join the BCWA Art group when they meet on Tuesday mornings. They are a small group, informal and friendly. Members try out their drawing and painting skills using a variety of different media, the emphasis being very much on fun and friendship.

Normally, you would be expected to provide your own materials, but If you just want to give the class a try before investing in your own supplies, current members will be happy to share.

To make sure we don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity to benefit from Melanie's considerable talent, we would be grateful if you could please register your interest in this special six-week course with the Art Group organizer as soon as possible, and preferably by 31st July at the latest. More contact and location details in the Newsletter.

Cost for the six week course: 36€ total

Join us as we explore the 17th arrondissement on foot, in particular the area around the new Tribunal de Paris.

The walk will take us round the north side of the 17th arrondissement (mostly the Jardin Martin Luther King, the Tribunal and the new buildings in the area) and will be led by a very charming and interesting guide who's already taken us around some of the new districts in the capital.

The guide will speak in French, but English translation can be provided if needed.

There is no need to reserve your place for the walk, which will last an hour and a half - members should just turn up on time at the designated meeting place.

    Date: Thursday, 14th October 2021
