We are delighted to offer our members this month a guided tour of Saint Sulpice Church, kindly proposed by one of our members.
The present Church, only slightly smaller than Notre Dame, was built in the 17th Century on the foundations of an earlier Romanesque church. You may recall its sudden, unsought-for moment of fame due to the Da Vinci Code novel, which featured - inaccurately - various details of the building, including the meridian built in the 18th century. However, there is so much more to interest you in the history, architecture and art enshrined in this wonderful old church. Some of us enjoyed a visit some years back with the same guide, and we can’t wait to do it again. The visit is free of charge, but your donations to Saint-Sulpice will be much appreciated. More details about how to register and where to meet up will be included in the Monthly Newsletter.
